Many of the families forced to leave the country have pets among their members. Various non-governmental organizations and activists are working hard to ensure these families can flee with their pets. In some countries, it is more complicated to enter with animals if you do not have all the regulated documentation. However, in the current situation, these requirements (vaccinations, microchip, and rabies titer test) are being relaxed to facilitate their entry.
Shelter volunteers decide to stay and care for their animals
As for the animal shelters, they house a large number of animals and do not have the capacity to relocate all of them. This shows how big the human heart can be, as many of these volunteers and shelter managers have decided to stay, not wanting to abandon the animals that depend on them. They are organizing another trip with no set date yet, aiming to collect as many materials and food as possible. Salvando Peludos has made several trips to Ukraine to rescue abandoned animals
So far, the Salvando Peludos sanctuary, an association from Madrid, has made two trips to the Ukrainian border to deliver food and bring back dogs abandoned due to the war.
