How the coronavirus crisis influences the lives of pets

Cómo influye la crisis del coronavirus en la vida de las mascotas

Many questions arise regarding our pets while we are confined to our homes. Here, we will try to answer the most common ones.

1. Can my pets get infected?

No. According to the WHO, the Ministry of Health, and the General Directorate for Animal Rights: “There is no scientific evidence that domestic animals suffer from or transmit COVID-19.”

2. Can my pet infect me?

Since they don't contract it, they cannot transmit it. Therefore, the only way for transmission would be similar to that of a common object. That's why it's advisable to disinfect your dog's paws when you return home.

3. Can I live with my dog during this crisis?

There is no reason to abandon our pets because of the virus. In fact, they can provide psychological support to cope with this crisis, as they help us escape from this

situation by dedicating our time to them.

4. I have coronavirus, what should I do with my pet?

Ideally, you should find a trusted person who can take care of your pet. This temporary caregiver should have new food and water bowls, and the same applies to the bed or leash, unless they have been thoroughly cleaned and perfectly disinfected. If you cannot leave them with another caregiver, then you should avoid physical contact and even isolate yourself from them.

5. Can I walk them as many times as I want?

We know that dog owners have the right to walk their dogs to relieve themselves. No one will be monitoring how many times you go out with your pet, but it is common sense that the more you go out, the more exposed you are to infection. So, you must be responsible and only go out when it is truly necessary for them. Avoid other dogs and, of course, other owners.

6. Can I visit the vet?

Only in case of an emergency. Although many veterinary clinics are open because they are healthcare centers, they are only open to treat emergencies. So, if your pet needs a vaccine or deworming, you will have to wait until the state of alarm ends.

7. Can I buy dog or cat food?

Pet food stores are considered an essential service. At ARISTOPET, we continue to work so that your pet doesn't lack anything, and since we are an online store, you will avoid going out and exposing yourself.
