On October 15, New York City hosted the second edition of the ‘Dog Film Festival’, which included feature films, documentaries, and short films. The festival was created by Tracie Hotchner, host of the American radio show ‘Dog Talk’, and its goal is to educate the public on topics such as health, adoption, and the philosophical aspects of pets in people's lives. Her idea became a reality thanks to the financial support of Petco Foundation, an organization that invests in animal welfare efforts and adoption programs.
The films are divided into four two-hour sessions: British dogs and their owners, outdoor dogs, adopted dogs, and dogs helping people. Each work selected to participate in the festival explores the relationships between ARISTOPARENTS and their ARISTOPETS. Another important point is that each selection has a happy ending, and if the audience cried, it would have been tears of joy.
Dogs competing in snow sports, a group of people and ARISTOPETS searching for the mythical 'Cairn' – a stone monument in the Arctic Circle – and a man running with his dog in the Alps. These are just some of the films presented during the weekend.
The closing film of the event was 'The Champions – An Uplifting Tale of Redemption,' a documentary that follows the ARISTOPETS rescued from Michael Vick's dog-fighting ring.
Half of the money raised was donated to the organization ‘Alliance for NYC’s animals,’ which also brought ARISTOPETS needing homes to the event. Additionally, attendees' pets had a 'Doggy day care' where they could play and meet new friends while their ARISTOPARENTS enjoyed the films.
