Our daily routines, work life, family, and social life sometimes limit the time we can share with our pets. Faced with loneliness, dogs can suffer from stress and, at very high levels, can develop destructive behaviors, aggression, hyperactivity, phobias, separation anxiety, among others.
In response to this reality, Doga was born, or in other words: doing yoga with your dog. This “modality” of Yoga is not about training the pet to do the poses and contortions typical of this discipline. The idea is that through relaxing music and a cozy atmosphere, our furry friend is in contact with us at all times of the practice, and by serving as support, we involve them through massages, stretches, and passive exercises.

Doga was born several years ago in the United States, at the hands of Suzi Teitelman, a Yoga instructor who decided to include her dog in her sessions after noticing how relaxed he was while she practiced. The benefits of the practice were remarkable, and it has already spread to many other countries. In Spain, it is not yet a common practice, but we are sure that soon we will see owners and dogs practicing in specialized centers and parks.

BENEFITS OF DOGA
– Significantly strengthens the bond between owner and dog.
– Promotes socialization with other dogs and people.
– Reduces stress and anxiety levels in both.
– Increases elasticity and flexibility, preventing injuries and working to prevent future contractures or other muscle problems.
– Helps them relax.
– Is good physical exercise.
– Encourages obedience.
– Improves blood circulation and respiration in both.
If you practice Yoga or if you are looking to start this activity, Doga can be the answer to your needs and also to those of your dog, where you can strengthen the bonds of affection and enjoy the benefits it has for both. Namaste!
