More than a billion pets live with families in the United States, Europe, parts of Latin America, and Japan. In countries like the United States, there are almost as many pets (305 million) as inhabitants (324 million). Europe follows with 288 million. "The global pet business" (we don't like this expression, but that's what the media calls it) is booming and last year it generated over 100 billion euros in the aforementioned regions. It's no surprise, then, that the advertising sector (which is obviously rubbing its hands together with this) is starting to change the role of pets in its campaigns (and also in its offices, as we told you in this post). Thus, they are moving from secondary roles to becoming protagonists.
That's why today at ARISTOPET we've selected for you the best advertising campaigns of 2016, starring our best friends.
Stampeding Dachshunds
This was one of the most talked-about and applauded Super Bowl commercials of the last edition. For its surreal and crazy touch, but also because what was happening was, no more and no less, a stampede of one hundred dachshunds, dressed as hot dogs. Literally.
The dogs are going to meet a family that... You'd better watch the video, a gem with over 7,000,000 views and 27,000 likes. We gave it our like too!
Cats about to fall asleep
The stars of this commercial are beautiful and very, very relaxed cats. So much so that they are about to fall asleep. And we, with them. Because what's more relaxing than watching our aristocat nod off? However, something stops them...
Volkswagen launched this commercial on August 8, International Cat Day (how clever), which currently has over 13,000 views. We dare you not to yawn from sheer empathy when you see it!
Buster, the acrobatic boxer
One of the most anticipated Christmas commercials is from the "John Lewis" department store. This year they have won us all over with the story of Buster, a boxer who dreams of jumping on a trampoline, and who loves presents (like most, of course). With over 23,000,000 views and 100,000 likes, #bustertheboxer has become one of the stars of this Christmas.
#DONOTABANDON
The "30 Millions d’Amis Foundation" fights on many fronts to defend and protect animals, as well as to educate new generations to respect all forms of life. With a strong mobilizing capacity, this foundation collaborates with French public authorities to change legislation in favor of animals.
This year's anti-abandonment campaign, starring Nelson, a dog with a long history, is overwhelming. More than 743,000 have already seen it. Words are unnecessary. Let the images speak.
The Disguised Golden Retriever
Although this Amazon China commercial has had little visibility on YouTube, just over 100 views (perhaps on some other Chinese network or page it has had more), we want to rescue it for you because we find it highly heartwarming. Furthermore, it has a clear message of respect and love for pets, beyond the adversities or daily problems that may arise.
Which one is your favorite? Would you add any more? We await your comments on our social networks!
