The relationship between pets and people is changing over the years. Today, for many of us, they are part of our family. We can't imagine life without them. That's why we want to give them the best at all times.
Aware of this, some architects (mostly Japanese) have begun to re-examine the environment and surroundings in which we and our pets move, with the aim of making us happier. Through ingenious structures and meticulously detailed designs, these architects reinvent spaces and elements so that we can live better. But always together.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
There is still no unanimous answer from the scientific community to the question of whether dogs can recognize themselves in a mirror, but designer Konstantin Grcic doesn't much care. Grcic has created a special mirror for poodles, as he knows many people who own dogs of this breed and claim that they do recognize themselves when they look in it. And no wonder, because... they are always so handsome!
Sitting in the Cool Air
Hiroshi Naito knows that, especially during the hottest times of the year, dogs get very hot. That's why he designed this practical and original structure, with aluminum tubes, where dogs can lie down and enjoy a pleasant feeling of coolness. It couldn't be cooler!
Out for a Stroll, Come What May
Toyo Ito wants "aristopeters" to go for a stroll together, come what may. It doesn't matter if it rains or if it's hot. With this stroller (or mobile home), which includes a removable canopy, strolling has never been so pleasant. Especially for older pets who have difficulty moving around.
Pug Adventures
Architect Kengo Kuma designed a wooden structure so that pugs can climb or lie under it. A fun and original idea with which dogs can have fun, explore, and develop their curiosity. But beware: you need to have a lot of space at home.
Goodnight, Bichon Frise
The Bichon Frise is a cheerful, active, and tireless dog, with fine, soft, silky, somewhat curly, and relatively long fur. Pritzker Prize winner Kazuyo Sejima has taken all of this into account when designing this cushion, exclusive for Bichon Frise, so soft, warm, and cuddly. How tempting to lie down! (Or hide, or chew on it, or jump on it...)
The Perfect Hammock
Designed by Torafu Architects, this hammock was initially created for a Jack Russell terrier, although any dog could enjoy it, as long as its characteristics are similar. The hammock's particularity is that it is very easy to assemble, although to complete the assembly it is necessary to use the owner's clothing (like the t-shirt in the image). That is the best way to ensure the dog is happy at all times. How well thought out!
The Ideal House
The architecture firm MVRDV has created this interactive house (ideal for restless and always active beagles) characterized by a fine, elegant, and minimalist design. Who wouldn't want to live there?
