Today we're taking another look at pets that have appeared in TV series… and we're going to get a little nostalgic. We hope you enjoy them!
Rex, a different kind of German Shepherd
As many of you will remember, Rex was the police dog par excellence since the series began broadcasting in 1994. During the ten years of "Rex, a Different Kind of Police Dog" on air, Rex never ceased to amaze, to help solve the endless murders that occurred in Vienna (where the series was set) and, of course, to eat the sausage sandwiches of one of his fellow police officers.
The two dogs that played Rex were named Santo vom Haus Zieglmayer and Rhett Butler. And what you might not know is that they were father and son.
Without a doubt, Rex was one of the most beloved and applauded dogs on the small screen. Don't miss the following video.
Brandon, the wonder dog
Brandon appeared from the first episode of the series "Punky Brewster," when he was an adorable Golden Retriever puppy. Over the four seasons, viewers watched him grow, just like Punky, from whom he was never separated.
In the United States, he was known as The Wonder Dog because he could ride a skateboard and play cards.
Eddie and his penetrating gaze
Eddie was the dog of Martin Crane, Frasier and Niles Crane's father. He was a great Jack Russell Terrier who was played by two dogs during filming: first by Moose and then by his son, Enzo. Moose was 3 years old when he started working and filmed 192 episodes. During that time, he gained great popularity: he appeared on numerous television shows, magazines, and even published a calendar and an "autobiography" (My Life as a Dog). At ten years old, it was time to say goodbye and he retired from show business. It was the year 2000.
He was then replaced by his son Enzo, who was seven years old and bore a striking resemblance to his father. He filmed the last two seasons of Frasier. In June 2006, Moose died at the home of his former trainer. He will be remembered for his ability to stay still and fix his gaze for a long time, a fact that became a recurring gag in the series.
Legend has it that to make Moose seem more affectionate with his fictional owners, his trainer would smear sardine oil on the actors' faces so that the dog would lick them, or put pâté behind their ears so that he would follow them.
The misunderstood Mrs. Whiskerson
We couldn't miss the opportunity to remember the beautiful and mysterious Sphinx cat that appeared in episode 521 of Friends. Rachel buys Mrs. Whiskerson on impulse. She says she reminds her of the cat her grandmother had when she was little... But the relationship between the two is not as good as expected. Rachel has no empathy for the cat, doesn't understand her needs, and is not capable of taking care of her. In fact, you only have to look at the name she gives her to know that they won't become soulmates. So, a few days after having her, she sells her to Gunther, the manager of Central Perk, who is madly in love with her.
