As the song said, referring to Madrid: "vaya, vaya, there's no beach here." Well, those who live in the capital still don't have a beach, but now they have something many others don't: a swimming pool for dogs!
The "aristopeters" of the capital are in luck because from now until September 31st they can finally cool off in an enclosure of more than 9,000 square meters, with a 90-centimeter deep beach where our four-legged friends can splash and beat the summer heat.
The venue is called "Campus Perruno" and is located in Brunete. It is open from Thursday to Sunday, from 12 PM to 7 PM until September 31st. Advance booking is required.
Elsa Martín, head of "Campus Perruno," had been thinking about launching this initiative her whole life. As often happens, the idea arises to solve a need. In this case, the impossibility of being able to make plans with her dogs, especially in summer. That's why she dreamed of having a space where people and animals could enjoy nature.
The former Impacto TV presenter has worked hard to fulfill her dream: she had to sell her house, live in a motorhome, and fight hard because she didn't find any help from investors or funding. After two years of work, the first dog pool in Madrid opened its doors on June 17, and more than 80 vehicles crowded at the entrance of the facility to discover the wonderful space that a fighting and dreaming woman has created for them. The attendance is such that to go to the pool, you must fill out a form and wait for Elsa to confirm availability. This is the only way to ensure that attendees will enjoy a fun and refreshing space calmly and without overcrowding.
The future of Madrid's first dog pool is promising, but Elsa is still looking for sponsorships to ensure the long-term continuity of the project, such as Conalsa. This company specializes in urban furniture and rustic elements and has collaborated by installing a giant pergola, as well as an Agility area and human exercise area.
It is therefore essential to ensure that there will be activity at the venue during the autumn-winter season. That is why, when the summer season is over, Elsa wants to promote inclusive workshops and proposals, as well as use the space for "aristopeters" to go to "Campus Perruno" to exercise, do yoga, CrossFit, etc. And so that animals can run free. In addition, it has a space specially designed for celebrations: "La cabañita", which anyone can rent to hold a party, a birthday or whatever they want.
