Keeping cities clean is a very important and delicate issue that generates many conflicts in localities. It is everyone's job, citizens and cleaning services alike, to keep our city clean.
Due to this, we ARISTOPARENTS have an obligation to pick up our pets' waste, as they cannot do it themselves. If we all practice this, we will contribute to keeping our cities clean, something we all appreciate. However, there are still ARISTOPARENTS who do not pick up after their pets, which means that, in the end, the innocent always pay for the guilty.
For this reason, the town of Sant Boi del Llobregat has launched an initiative to reward ARISTOPARENTS who pick up waste and fine those who do not.
Under the slogan “I am responsible. Reward or fine. You decide!” the municipal council seeks to promote the collection of pet waste. A team of environmental educators will decide whether to grant a reward or a fine. They will also be responsible for informing about the new regulations, which mandates picking up dog waste and specifies where animals cannot urinate. It also establishes that pets must be registered and have an identification microchip.
Those who act responsibly will receive a ticket with which they can participate in a monthly draw for 30 vouchers of €20. At the end of the month, the list of winners will be published on the town hall's website.
However, people who do not pick up waste and violate the regulations will have to pay fines ranging from €150 to €500. To carry out this campaign, the Local Police will reinforce surveillance during this month.
Many localities are joining these initiatives to promote cleanliness among all citizens. Recently, the Elda City Council has presented a new campaign “It's in your hands.” Through which pet owners will be provided with tools to clean up their pets' waste and urine.
Together we can all do our part to keep our localities clean and well-maintained.
