ARISTOPARENTS always want their pet to be as comfortable as possible at home, however, it is often difficult to find a bed or house that matches the home's decor. A few weeks ago we talked about dog houses designed by architects, today it's the felines' turn. ARISTOCATS are adorable in themselves; imagine giving them a lavish house, it would be the perfect territory for their long naps.
Architects for Animals invited local designers to build houses to be auctioned, with the money raised benefiting 3 million stray cats through the Fix Nation organization.
Earth calling the moon
The brand 'Know How Shop' created the house called 'Lunar Cat Lander', the objective was to test the effects of low-gravity environments on activities that ARISTOCATS appreciate: napping, eating, rolling around, and just lying down doing absolutely nothing. It is hypothesized that other planets and moons in space could sustain feline life if they are in a proper balance of warm sun rays, ropes, slow moths, and small, fragile, striking objects.
Fishbowl for ARISTOCATS
Taking bowl-shaped fishbowls as a reference, Abramson Teiger created the 'Cat Bowl'. The structure has slats separated from each other so the cat can observe what is happening outside while remaining hidden in its unique home. It has multiple entrances so the pet can enter in various ways.
A very fun labyrinth
The firm Lehrer Architects was inspired by linear, ascending processional elements. Based on this, they created 'conCATenate'. ARISTOCATS like to climb, rest, and cuddle, which is why they took simple angles and joined them together to create a space for the pet to have fun and rest in the same object.
Strings are our cats' weakness
It's no secret that ARISTOCATS have a weakness for strings or anything that resembles them. RNL was inspired by this insight and created a house where the little furballs can climb and play non-stop. It also has a floor that simulates grass so they can have the feeling of being outdoors but without leaving their comfort zone.
A very responsible option
Cat-à-Tête is a house designed by Buro Happold, made from recycled plastic bottles. The material has been compressed in such a way that it is very soft to the touch. The name is due to its shape being inspired by the French expression tête-à-tête. The structure has several entrances and inside it offers areas for rest, play, and observation.
