Our daily routines and work, family, and social lives sometimes limit the time we could spend with our pets. When left alone, dogs can suffer from stress and, at very high levels, may develop destructive behavior, aggression, hyperactivity, phobias, separation anxiety, among other issues.
In response to this reality, Doga was born, or in other words: doing yoga with your dog. This “form” of Yoga is not about training the pet to perform the poses and contortions associated with this discipline. The idea is that, through relaxing music and a welcoming environment, our furry companion remains in contact with us throughout the practice, and by serving as support, we involve it through massages, stretches, and passive exercises.

Doga originated in the United States several years ago, introduced by Suzi Teitelman, a Yoga instructor who decided to include her dog in her sessions after noticing how relaxed it became while she practiced. The benefits of the practice were notable, and it has since spread to many other countries. In Spain, it is not yet a common practice, but we are sure that soon we will see owners and dogs practicing in specialized centers and parks.
