The Council of Ministers has approved the 2019 General State Budget Bill (PGE), which includes a reduction in VAT for veterinary services.
María José Montero, Minister of Finance, announced in a press conference the VAT reduction for veterinary services from the current 21% to 10%.
The General State Budget Bill will be presented to the courts next Monday. The 2019 PGE Bill is not fully approved. The Government needs the necessary support from different political parties. Therefore, the approval of the VAT reduction for veterinary services is pending.
The Spanish Collegiate Veterinary Organization (OCV) is implementing different mechanisms in case the VAT reduction is not approved, as reported at the OCV General Assembly at the end of the year. At the Assembly, OCV president Juan José Badiola announced that discussions had been held with various political sources to reverse the increase in veterinary VAT that occurred in 2012.
At ARISTOPET, we would be delighted if the VAT reduction were achieved.
