Did you know that originally Book Day was set for October 7?
This day was stipulated in commemoration of the birth of the writer Miguel de Cervantes, as a celebration dedicated to the Spanish book. However, in 1930, the celebration was moved to April 23, coinciding with the deaths of writers Cervantes and Shakespeare.

However, it was not officially recognized until the mid-90s. In 1995, UNESCO established April 23 as International Book and Copyright Day to pay tribute to literature and promote reading worldwide.
