As a general rule, town councils do not allow pets on their beaches from May to September due to coastal law. Fortunately, thanks to initiatives by neighborhood associations, there are increasingly more dog-friendly beaches along the Galician coast.
O Espiño Beach

The dog-friendly O Espiño Beach is located next to the Piedras Negras Marina, in O Grove, and next to Portiño Beach. Both sandy areas (located next to each other) are two quiet beaches, 75 meters long, with fine white sand and calm waters, ideal for enjoying a fun day at the beach with your ARISTOPET.
Cunchiña Beach

Cunchiña Beach for Dogs in Cangas, Pontevedra, is located in front of the old Massó cannery and is a dog-friendly beach in summer. In 2016, a beautiful virgin beach, Lagoelas Beach, was also enabled in Cangas, but this summer, like the last one, it will not be open to our dogs. Cunchina Beach is about 100 meters long and 15 meters wide, and is made of sand. Its waters are calm and it has no services.
Cesantes and Chapela Beach
In July 2016, the Redondela town council approved in its municipal ordinances access for dogs in summer to 2 small areas of its coast. Specifically, this refers to a 150-meter section in the central part of Cesantes beach, between the area known as "Os Asteleiros" and the vicinity of the Antolín hostel, and in the case of Chapela, a small cove located between two marinas on the Cardona promenade. The problem with Chapela cove is that, at high tide, this small dog-friendly area disappears. The dog-friendly Cesantes beach has been a great success, and this year, 2019, it will once again be available for those who wish to enjoy a fun vacation with their best friend.
O Castelete Beach

O Castelete dog-friendly beach in Vilagarcía de Arousa is a beach that you can access in summer, according to the latest municipal ordinances approved in June 2016. This small beach has long been frequented by bathers with their pets, which is why it was chosen to allow dogs in summer. The beach is made of stone and sand, and is located next to the road, which is why the town council announced that it would fence it and equip the beach with waste bins for excrement.
A Foz and A Cazoa Beaches

Since May 2018, we have had 2 dog-friendly beaches in Vigo: A Foz and A Calzoa
– A Foz is located to the left of the mouth of the Lagares river, is sandy, and is about 320 meters long.
– A Calzoa is located next to A Foz beach, and has about 120 meters of little sand and many rocks, so it is not highly recommended for small dogs or those with sensitive paws.
Both beaches are next to each other, so they can be considered as one. They are open all year round with no time restrictions.
Arenal Beach
The Dog Beach in A Pobra do Caramiñal is a small section of Arenal Beach, known by locals as Playa de las Mariscadoras. It is a fine sandy beach located south of the city and near O Xobre. The downside of this beach is that when the tide rises, it almost disappears.
Ares Dog Beach

The dog beach in Ares is the second dog-friendly beach in A Coruña. The town council has enabled a small section of the municipality's large urban beach (the last stretch of beach before reaching the port) for enjoying the beach with our pets. It is a small beach with fine white sand and calm waves, ideal for our ARISTOPETS to cool off.
Punta Corveira
The Punta Corveira dog-friendly beach, in Barreiros (Lugo), is the second sandy area adapted for pets in the province. It is a small beach located next to Lóngara Beach, made up of rocks and sand, and difficult to access.
The rules for enjoying these beaches are the same as for other beaches and coves in the country, but, in case you have any doubts, here they are:
– Keep your pet under control at all times
– Pick up their excrement
– Try not to disturb other users
– Carry your pet's vaccination record and ensure all vaccinations are up to date
– If the dog is included in the list of potentially dangerous dog breeds, it must be on a leash and muzzled.
