Villa Pepa Animal Shelter

The Villa Pepa Animal Shelter is a non-profit organization whose main objective is to rescue abandoned animals and find good homes for all of them.

It is legally registered with number 2393 and CIF G-05231113 in the region of Castilla y León.

protectora villa pepaThe association was formalized in mid-2011, but Pepa García, the president, had already spent more than 6 years collecting and caring for abandoned animals in her home, rehabilitating them and putting them up for adoption with the collaboration of other animal welfare associations.

In these 10 years of operation, more than 600 animals have passed through Villa Pepa, and today they enjoy a permanent home.

Villa Pepa does not have a shelter, so the animals are housed in Pepa García's home and other foster homes, where they are cared for with great affection until they are adopted.

Recently, due to the number of abandoned animals we are rescuing, we have been forced to rent a rural property with a small house to provide shelter for all those animals for whom we no longer had space.

We are carrying out minor renovations to enable and condition it as best as possible so that our dogs can enjoy good care until they find their opportunity.

In addition, we have a wild feline colony of over 30 cats, so we have built a cat house where they can shelter from the cold and rain.

Villa Pepa is located in El Tiemblo, next to San Martín de Valdeiglesias.

Due to our location, many of the dogs we collect come from hunting backgrounds and have never lived in a house or received attention. Therefore, we socialize them and help them overcome their fears to adapt them to city life, as our animals are only given up for adoption in Madrid and can only be used as companions, not for guarding properties or hunting.

el-tiemblo-ayuntamiento-4At present, we have nearly a hundred animals under our care.

Our animals can be adopted or sponsored (those who have been living with us for a long time and would find it difficult to adapt elsewhere).

In our adoption contract, among other conditions, it specifies the follow-up that is carried out, the possibility of immediately removing the animal if its living conditions are not those pre-established in the contract, as well as that, in case of impossibility of keeping the animal, it must return to our association.

In this way, we prevent "our" dog from being abandoned or given to third parties in case of problems and guarantee its lifelong well-being.

To cover part of the animal's expenses, the adopter pays an adoption fee.

Our dogs are given for adoption dewormed internally and externally, vaccinated with pentavalent and rabies, identified with a microchip, tested for leishmania and erlichia, and sterilized.

Our cats are given for adoption dewormed internally and externally, vaccinated with trivalent and leukemia vaccines, identified with a microchip, tested for immunodeficiency and leukemia, and sterilized.

In order to cover the expenses of the rented rural property, as well as the veterinary and maintenance costs of our animals, and given that we do not receive any kind of aid or subsidy and the only regular income we receive comes from the contributions of the few members and sponsors we have, we are obliged to carry out solidarity sales and a large number of charity events throughout the year.
