Exercising and trying to make time for yourself is one of the most common resolutions when the year begins. It is a difficult resolution because it can be hard to motivate yourself, especially at this time of year, when the weather is not very cooperative.
At the end of 2018, ARISTOPET suggested eight resolutions to make with your pet. Two of them were spending more time with your pet and getting more exercise. How are your resolutions going? Are you achieving them?
In winter, the days are shorter and it gets dark earlier. It is a little harder to go out and exercise after working all day, especially in the cold. It is advisable to do some exercise to clear your mind, disconnect and activate your metabolism.

Also, if you are someone who finds it difficult to go running or walking alone, a good alternative is to exercise alongside your ARISTOPERRO. It is a truly positive way to strengthen the bond between you and your ARISTOPET. It also helps improve your mood and happiness and is a great way to disconnect.
4 tips for exercising with your ARISTOPERRO
1. Go for a walk
If you are not passionate about exercise, a good choice is to go for a walk. Going for a walk requires a faster pace than simply strolling. This means you have to maintain more or less the same pace and try to get your pet to follow you.
If your dog is medium-sized or small, you cannot go too fast either. You have to adapt to your dog, since its strides are not very long. Use a short leash, as long as your dog is comfortable or a leash that you can attach around your body. It is advisable to walk for approximately 30 minutes a day.
2. Go running
If walking bores you and does not feel like enough, go running with your dog. When making this decision, you have to take your dog's breed into account, because the same applies as with walking: small or medium-sized dogs cannot run for a long time because they get tired. Never force your pet to do something it does not want to do.

When going running, it is best to use a leash that you can attach to your hip or chest, so that you both maintain the same pace and the leash does not get in the way. It is even better to use a harness or a special canicross harness so you do not hurt your dog.
3. Ride a bike or go skating
Another good option is to go out cycling or skating, but this depends on whether you enjoy it and have the equipment needed to practice these two types of exercise.
When cycling, you must be very careful and use a short leash with enough distance for you both to move comfortably, but not enough for your dog to cross in front of you. There are special leashes; be sure to take a look at them for both your safety. It would also work for skating. It is extremely important to match your pet's pace. Keep in mind that you travel much faster on a bike. Therefore, never force your dog.
Even if your dog is small, you have accessories that can be attached to the bike so you can go for a ride together. You can add a basket, a carrier or a trailer.
4. Activities
On days with better weather and when you have more time, you can go to a park to play. You can bring your dog's favorite toy, a ball or a frisbee. Play fetch, hide the ball and have your dog find it. You can even set up a course among the trees and go through it with your dog.

Depending on how long you are going to exercise with your dog, it is advisable to bring a bottle of water or a specific or portable container for your dog to drink from, all for the sake of its health.
