Our ARISTOPETS are everything to us. That’s why we care about them more and more. Nutrition and health come first, always. But as members of the family, we also think about other things that may benefit or interest them. Such as games, the objects they interact with, and the experiences they have.
Nowadays, simply going for a walk in the park is no longer enough for us. We want more. We want more opportunities to enjoy ourselves with our best friends. And for that, we need leisure options that «welcome us both». That’s how pet-friendly cafés and restaurants have emerged, along with concerts by and for dogs, albums for cats… In short, activities for all tastes, breeds, and sizes.
Just when it seems that nothing else can be invented, something surprising comes along and puts a smile on our faces. And that is precisely what we want to talk to you about today.
As we told you on another occasion, ethology originated in Austria. Perhaps this country is much more advanced than ours when it comes to respecting and understanding animals, or perhaps it was simply a coincidence, but an initiative we absolutely love also comes to us from there: «Theater at Home for Pets».
Alex Bailey and Krõõt Juurak are two Austrian artists who have joined forces to offer an unprecedented show: «Performances For Pets». This project was created to offer theatrical entertainment to pets around the world. Yes, around the world. Bailey and Juraak have performed for more than 80 pets across Europe, as well as taking part in the Bristol Biennial.
According to them, the idea came from observing many pets. In different aspects of their lives, during the day and at night, interacting with other pets (whether of their own species or another, of their own breed or another) or with other species (familiar humans and strangers); playing with familiar toys, but also with new ones… In short, observation, observation, and more observation. And that’s how they realized that ARISTOPETS are also artists, in their own way. They demonstrate their creativity through their behavior. After this discovery, they both realized that they had plenty of creativity of their own to bring to light and turn into something beneficial for pets. A very animal project.
Bailey and Juraak consider ARISTOPETS their equals; there is nothing that sets them apart. That is why the aim of their performances is to provide pets with a source of artistic stimulation, as a gesture of gratitude for all the years (since Prehistory) during which animals have given humans affection, entertainment, companionship, protection…
Generally, the duo travels to the pet’s home - its habitat - to meet the ARISTOPET and their ARISTOPARENT. They conduct a brief interview to learn about the animal’s personality and character, as well as to understand what it likes and dislikes. They also ask about performance preferences (music, toys, treats…) so that, ultimately, they have enough material and knowledge to put on an exclusive, personalized performance for each ARISTOPET.
Performances for ARISTODOGS last between 15 and 20 minutes. For cats, things take a little longer (we all know their rhythms), ranging from 20 to 30 minutes. The price per pet is around €12. But enough words. Let’s see the duo in action!
A unique, creative, and, to say the least, surprising experience, don’t you think? If you would like them to visit and perform for your ARISTODOG or ARISTOCAT, all you have to do is book an appointment here.
