We continue with our special on dog-friendly beaches for the summer of 2017. And today we're heading to Murcia, where we only found four beaches—three of them concentrated in a single municipality. We invite you to join us in discovering them, and we hope that next year there will be many more options for all those who travel to this beautiful region with your best friends.
Mazarrón is the municipality with the most pet-friendly beaches in Murcia. It boasts three such beaches. Being a highly tourist-oriented municipality, its population swells from 30,000 residents to over 130,000 during the summer, primarily thanks to its beaches. This surely has a lot to do with the fact that they have enabled three dog-friendly beaches. The City Council has understood the demands of a percentage of visitors—and also locals, of course—and has responded to them so that ARISTOPARENTS can enjoy a day at the sea with their ARISTOPETS. Thus, we find these three dog-friendly beaches:
1. Las Cobaticas is a natural beach located between Bolnuevo (stunning erosions that are Natural Heritage and not to be missed) and Percheles. It is difficult to access, but it's worth the "effort" to get there because it has an extraordinary beauty. The beach measures 1000 meters long by 30 meters wide and its surface consists of sand intermixed with pebbles and gravel.
2. Playa Sierra de las Moreras has approximate dimensions of 500 meters long by 60 meters wide, and features coarse golden sand. It is located in a semi-urban environment, making it perfect for walks with your pet at any time of year.
3. El Gachero is an urban and stony beach that combines hard sand with pebbles. It has a relaxed atmosphere and is usually not very crowded, as it is not very popular among bathers. However, thanks to its moderate waves and crystal-clear waters, it is pleasant to visit with your pet, and you are sure to enjoy a fantastic day.
We remind you that to visit any of these three beaches, it is necessary to comply with the regulations stipulated by the City Council.

3. Do not disturb other users
4. Carry your pet's vaccination record and ensure all vaccinations are up to date
The fourth dog-friendly beach in the region of Murcia is found in the municipality of Águilas, on the so-called Costa Cálida. Recently opened, la Cañada del Negro beach is 150 meters wide and composed of sand, boulders, and rock. It is a semi-urban beach, perfect for enjoying a day at the beach with your best friend.
When you visit, remember that there are six rules that must be followed:
1. Dogs must be vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. 2.
2. Dogs of potentially dangerous breeds must wear a muzzle.
3. Dogs must be within earshot or sight of their owner.
4. Spike or prong collars are not allowed.
5. It is mandatory to clean up dog waste.
6. Waste and garbage must be deposited in the bins.
Having said all this, remember that it is very important to protect your pet from the heat. Particularly if you travel to regions as hot as this one. So don't let your guard down, especially during the hours when the sun is strongest.
